Promosikan Kegiatan Adopsi Anjing dan Kucing Terlantar, AFJ Gelar AFJ ADOPTION DAY 2023 di Yogyakarta
Animal Friends Jogja (AFJ) bekerja sama dengan Petsaga Yogyakarta, telah menggelar acara AFJ ADOPTION DAY pada (18/8) kemarin, sebagai upaya penyadartahuan kepada masyarakat untuk memilih adopsi anjing dan kucing terlantar dari pada membeli.
“Pertambahan jumlah hewan, khususnya kucing yang dirawat di rumah singgah AFJ, sebagian besar merupakan akibat dari penelantaran para ‘pemilik’ kucing maupun pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab,” kata Muslimin, Manajer Program Adopsi AFJ.
“Hal ini memicu kami untuk menyelenggarakan kembali AFJ ADOPTION DAY 2023, setelah sebelumnya sempat vakum lantaran pandemi,” lanjutnya.
Sudah beberapa tahun terakhir, istilah adopsi acap kali disalahgunakan dan disalahartikan. Sejumlah pihak menggunakan istilah adopsi sebagai kegiatan untuk memperhalus istilah jual beli hewan dampingan, anjing dan kucing.
Oleh karena itu, di samping bertujuan memperluas edukasi sekaligus memopulerkan kegiatan adopsi hewan terlantar, acara yang berlangsung di Petsaga Yogyakarta ini juga memperkenalkan bagian dari Program Adopsi AFJ, antara lain Fostering, Sponsor Satwa dan Orang Tua Asuh Virtual, sebagai pilihan alternatif membantu hewan terlantar ketika seseorang tidak memungkinkan untuk mengadopsi.
AFJ ADOPTION DAY2023 menghadirkan secara langsung delapan kucing dan tiga anjing dari kasus penelantaran, yang selama ini dirawat AFJ. Mereka sudah mendapatkan vaksin, rutin diberi obat cacing, serta sterilisasi guna mengontrol populasi anjing dan kucing jalanan.
Kegiatan ini sangat memungkinkan calon adopter melakukan pendekatan dan interaksi secara langsung dengan kesebelas hewan lucu yang siap untuk diadopsi.
Calon adopter yang sudah siap berkomitmen dan bertanggung jawab memelihara hingga akhir hayat, wajib mengisi formulir adopsi yang tersedia di stand AFJ Adoption. Selanjutnya, staf bagian adopsi akan menghubungi calon adopter dan melakukan prosedur kelayakan adopter lebih lanjut.
Dalam acara yang berhasil menarik sekitar 80 pengunjung ini, cukup banyak yang menunjukkan ketertarikannya untuk mengadopsi salah satu satwa dampingan dari rumah singgah AFJ.
Bukan hanya itu, acara bergengsi ini turut menyajikan mini talk show bersama Ketua Persatuan Dokter Hewan Indonesia (PDHI) cabang Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta periode 2019-2023, drh. Aniq Syihabuddin, serta menyediakan layanan konsultasi secara gratis dengan drh. Andre Lisnawan dan drh. DestiIka.
Dalam sesi talk show yang bertajuk “Cara Tepat Memelihara Anjing dan Kucing”, drh. Aniq Syihabuddin mengungkapkan bahwa ada hal-hal dasar yang perlu diketahui oleh semua orang sebelum mereka memutuskan untuk hidup bersama satwa dampingan, seperti anjing dan kucing. Di antaranya adalah memahami dan menerapkan lima prinsip kesejahteraan hewan, yaitu bebas dari rasa lapar dan haus; bebas dari rasa tidak nyaman; bebas dari rasa sakit, cidera, atau penyakit; bebas mengekspresikan perilaku alami; serta bebas dari rasa takut dan tertekan.
Tak kalah menarik, acara ini dimeriahkan pula oleh penampilan musik dari beberapa musisi asal Yogyakarta, antara lain Ralung, Jaka Prasetya dan Nyiur, serta ditutup oleh penampilan yang manis dari Marcella Dee, penyanyi jebolan X Factor Indonesia 2021.
“Dalam acara ini, kami juga melibatkan para relawan yang selama ini banyak membantu kegiatan-kegiatan yang AFJ lakukan, misalnya sterilisasi kucing jalanan,” kata Nofri Dani, koordinator relawan AFJ.
“Diharapkan, AFJ ADOPTION DAY dapat pula memperluas jejaring para relawan dan semakin meningkatkan pemahaman mengenai pentingnya adopsi dibanding membeli,” lanjutnya.
Animal Friends Jogja menghimbau kepada seluruh masyarakat di Indonesia yang berniat memelihara kucing dan anjing, untuk lebih baik memilih adopsi dari organisasi maupun komunitas penyelamatan hewan, dari pada membeli.
